Yesterday Sajjad and Irfan paid a visit to my home. Sunday was quite good - for them! Rather than gossiping much they preferred to watch Alpha Bravo Charlie and I kept on staring at their faces and screen.


او یار تم مجھے ملنے آۓ ھو یا ڈرامہ دیکھنے؟


Without removing their eyes from the monitor they replied calmly:

تنگ نا کر بھئ ڈراما دیکھنے دے ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔ ھم جو کام کرنے آۓ ھیں وہی کر رھے ھیں

Meanwhile I kept on disturbing them by pausing and cutting in!
Nobody was at home except me! And after sometime I told them with a bit proud:


یار پتا نہیں یہ تم لوگوں کی خوش قسمتی ہے یا میری ۔۔۔۔۔۔ کھانا تم لوگ آج میرے ہا تھ کا بنا ھوا کھاؤ گے۔

On listening it both of them grabbed their heads! U ?? they confirmed with a great shock. They knew that I had never been to kitchen to cook something. Don’t worry men, I will not serve you a spoiled food. There was nothing much to do … it was all about frying a bird called chicken :) But i told them

یار دال چاول ھیں ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔ اور بےچاروں کے منہ لٹک گۓ

The recipe was simple and there was not much problem. So this first experience was good … and they ate happily and me too!

Talked about forgotten tales of campus, vacancies in papers and who-is-where-these-days … anyway it’s a better way to be with the friends on Sundays.
