Asalam-o-Alaequm Folks! I hope that everybody is fine! Well this week was also like many previous weeks with a few extra activities. On this Friday, I had a walk in test and interview. The first ever ‘walk in’ for me as these opportunities are rarely advertised.

During this whole week I had been preparing for the interview. The whole emphasis was on downloading data from internet and memorizing important points while taking notes from the new and already present data in the hard disk. And it was after a long time that my computers’ hard drive had to read the data sectors of its' D partition!

Khair pehlay din I logged on at 6:00 pm and by 10:00 pm what I had downloaded was a video song by Call, checked emails, visited many pages / read scraps on orkut, signed up on Zebo on a friends’ request and read blogs. Time daykha to it was 10:00 pm. Switched off the computer and went to bed. Pehlay do teen din yahi hota raha. Is doran kuch downloading ore kuch perha’ey bhi howi.

Anyway, I tried to prepare as much as I could and on Friday reached at the given address and took the test. After one hour the names of candidates were announced who had qualified for the interview. And my name was also in that list! Two out of three females also qualified for the interview. Waisay from deep inside i wanted these two to be selected as well. Heeh Heeh. I don't know what happened with them afterwards.

Interviews were in progress when they announced a lunch and prayer break of one hour. I decided to have lunch from a nearby market. Abhi thora he agay gaya hoon ga kah two people, both wearing helmets, appeared on a bike from somewhere, aimed a pistol at me and demanded for my cell phone and money. Mobile ore paisay nikalo. Jaldi. That was just like a scene from an action movie, in which a couple of badmaash of a dingy street try to harass the hero but he fights bravely with empty hands and defeats them. And the fight is followed by a romantic song filmed on the hero and heroine. Heeh Heeh. But this was a drama going on in real life. Firstly I thought to resist but I wasn’t sure whether I will be able to do that with empty hands. I looked around for any help; no one else was on the road. They snatched the phone, emptied my pockets and disappeared from the scene. What a pity. Khana to khair kia khana tha … offered prayer and came back.

Khuda Khuda kar kay interrview ki bari aey. I asked for the permission to enter the room, I casted a glance at all the six people present in the room, greeted them in a soft tone and took the seat. Interview started with a couple of formal questions; what is your complete name? Show your original certificates etc. etc. They were not interested in my present job experience rather asked questions about digital signal processing and my final year project. Interview lasted for about 10 to 15 minutes. I came out of that room and an attendant there inquired me, “Have they asked you to stay for a while?” I said ‘Nops’

At that time my face had a desperate look. Yah chance bhi gaya. I was about to leave when he re-appeared from that room and stopped me, ‘Mobark ho ji app ko … have a seat’. I was overjoyed and thanked to Allah Almighty, mayra is main koi kamal nahi tha.

He gave me a form and advised to fill it fully and return as soon as possible. I stepped out of that building happily and reached at Adnan’s flat which was at a walking distance of 20 minutes from there. khana wahan khaya got some money from him and reached home happily. Now I shall post that form tomorrow. Let’s see, when they call me.

And now I don’t have a cell phone. What I have learnt from this incident is:

  • You must keep a back up of all your contact numbers and addresses.
  • Cell phone must not be an expansive one. KhamKhoa afsos hota hai.
  • One must get some self defense classes but there isn’t any need to show heroism in these situations. Life is precious. Isn’t it? What do you say?

If you dial a number from your landline phone set and take a few milli-seconds to realize that the call will connect itself without pressing the 'Yes' key, you are a cell phone user!

I am busy like a bee these days .. coz shut down at plant is in final stages. Meanwhile I had plans to update on last saturday night but hung out with sajjad and irfi .. ore adhi raat tak Awara'garadi kartay rahy .. missing that hostel life.

Khair .. khawab and Naqi (yar tum to mujay jaantay ho :) although I am not into flying, but I find a certain sort of fascination in it.

This is, at least, what I feel about the crowded airport lounges, round the clock busy terminals, people with fresh and tired faces, naughty children running ahead of their parents (as yours truly was in his childhood :) luggage-packed trolleys, canteens, wide and long runways glittering with thousands of multi-color navigation lights– with each color having a specific message for the pilot, ‘control tower’ covered with rigid and transparent glass from all sides, its’ cold and numb atmosphere, rapidly changing LCD digits on large screens, continuously engaged operators with the flights in operation, efficient ground crew, mighty Boeings and Air Buses, attractive logos of airlines, an experienced gentleman flight captain with his very polite crew, splendid interiors, stylish flight kitchens, specific aroma of the food which wafts in the cabin as soon as the steward starts serving the food trays by pushing his trolley slowly from one seat to another, usual sound of engines and continuous mild vibrations, a smooth flight and a perfect landing!
Is that enough? :)

Declaration: This was the last post on this subject. Thx for bearing.

Feeling: Relax and Satisfied.

Dream Liner 787

What a beauty! Just look at its’ wings reflecting a light golden shade, its’ very artistically designed nose and the windows refracting the well-lit cabins’ lights. A mind blowing capture.
